The Eighty-sixth Amendment of the Constitution of India, officially known as The Constitution (Eighty-sixth Amendment) Act, 2002, made the Right to Education a Fundamental Right, by providing the right to free and compulsory education to all children between the ages of six and fourteen years. It also altered a Directive Principle of the Constitution to provide for the "early childhood care and education for all children until they complete the age of six years". The 86th Amendment also added a new Fundamental Duty to the Constitution providing that it shall be the duty of every citizen of India "who is a parent or guardian to provide opportunities for education to his child or ward between the age of six and fourteen years". The 86th Amendment came into force on 1 April 2010, the same date as its enabling legislation ''The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009''. The commencement of the 86th Amendment made India among one of 135 countries to make education a fundamental right of every child.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=India joins list of 135 countries in making education a right )〕 ==Text==
